Network Security Survey: Collecting the Data
by Kyle FlahertyOur industry is constantly releasing survey data on different trends. Just today as I was sorting through my news feeds I came across three interesting studies just out:
- Deloitte is predicting that information security budgets at financial services firms will be stable if not rise in the coming years (via SC Magazine). This particular study has been done for seven years running and provides a decent look into what is driving the spending for this particular sector.
- The market research firm INPUT predicts that the IT sector is poised for growth within the government sector (via Federal Times). The amount of data here is a little less but it does shed some light on the push towards the cloud by government agencies.
- Cisco also put out some survey results this week, examining potential security dangers around social networks. Interesting document for those concerned about the risk social networks are placing on your network.
We all use this data for a variety of purposes, as well as collect data ourselves. It is this reason that I wanted to write today, because BreakingPoint is working with the SANS Security Institute to conduct a network security survey. The goal is to have people like yourself answer a few questions on how you are measuring the overall performance and security of your network. The survey takes about five minutes, you can register for the webcast were we will discuss findings at the end and you become eligible to win a $250 gift card.
Head on over to our network security survey, we really want to hear from you and we will certainly be discussing many of the survey findings on this blog.
