Enhancing Application Load Testing: Cloud Security Alliance 2011

by Evan Guthrie

During the recent Cloud Security Alliance Congress, BreakingPoint's Scott Register presented on how to enhance functional testing prior to deploying a private cloud infrastructure. Scott also addressed the audience’s challenges and perceptions of it being too costly to scale load to reflect their actual traffic. As Scott demonstrated live, functional load testing alone is not sufficient, and companies must understand how their infrastructure will perform under real world conditions, which includes actual user load, application traffic, and security attacks.

Below, Scott shares a video overview of the recent presentation, including how companies can easily and cost-effectively validate the performance and security of any cloud deployment using their actual user load. By augmenting functional testing tools, such as HP Loadrunner, with BreakingPoint's all-in-one performance and security testing solution, companies are able to scale and enhance their functional testing to include not only proper load, but also true application traffic and live security attacks.
