Sales and Marketing
In the role of Software Engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing existing application protocols, reversing the protocol and implementing the protocol into the BreakingPoint Storm CTM.
This position is highly visible within the company, where you will have a direct impact on sales. This person will read RFC’s or other specifications on well known protocols and incorporate them into the BreakingPoint Storm CTM utilizing Ruby and XML. For protocols that are either proprietary or undocumented, this person will setup an infrastructure to capture the traffic in order to understand the protocol, reverse engineer it, and incorporate it into the product. This position will also have exposure to network security experts and have the opportunity to learn and contribute to the team on this front as well. Additionally, this person will have the opportunity to contribute to our extremely well-read blog about any technical topic of interest, including day-to-day work or outside interests.
Requirements:
- Strong programming in multiple languages (C, Java, Ruby, etc)
- Deep understanding of the TCP/IP stack and OSI model
- Cursory knowledge of application layer protocols
- Creative problem solving approach to projects
- Able to work under pressure to meet aggressive deadlines
- Comfort in a fast-paced startup environment

BreakingPoint Systems is currently seeking a network test engineer. The test engineer will work within the QA group and participate in test planning and development, traffic and protocol analysis, and performance verification. The successful candidate must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
The test engineering position has the following major responsibilities:
- Design, document, and automate test cases per development specification
- Monitor Ethernet/IP traffic for conformance to test specification
- Measure and verify network traffic rate, bandwidth, and reliability
- Work with developers to perform root-cause analysis of test failures
- Document test results and verify related bug fixes
The ideal candidate will have the following background and skills:
- Experience as a test engineer with strong knowledge of QA process and a passion for quality
- Detailed knowledge on TCP flow control
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering/computer-related discipline
- Working knowledge of various application layer protocols
- Experience with scripting and/or programming languages such as C, Perl, Tcl, etc.
- Experience in building and configuring test topologies using switches, routers, firewalls, etc.
- Hands-on experience with network test equipment and protocol analyzers
- Experience in isolating and troubleshooting network failures
- Experience with Linux services and networking administration

We are looking for a Software Engineer and Flex UI Developer to help improve our user interface. In the role of Security Research Engineer, you will research new vulnerabilities in networking enabled products and then develop live exploits for those vulnerabilities for our product. In this role, you will be responsible for developing tools, performing targeted research, developing exploits and test cases and writing papers. A Security Research Engineer will be expected to work closely with the other members of the team and report to the Chief Technology Officer.

In the role of Sales Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting their assigned Government Solutions Group Sales Director with all technical elements of the sales process while selling BreakingPoint process to potential customers and resellers. The Systems Engineer’s primary charter is to obtain solution closure within the sales cycle from the technical buyer, and to maintain account satisfaction with BreakingPoint products.
Requirements:
- Travel to visit potential and existing clients in order to establish new, and maintain existing, long-term relationships with customers
- Configuring BreakingPoint products for evaluation and proof of concepts, as well as managing the on-site customer demonstration to obtain solution closure
- Establish trusted advisory partnerships with key customers to define technology direction and adaptation of emerging technologies; perform effective technical opportunity analysis of accounts to know who the key solution decision makers are and maintain effective relationships with those key individuals
- Perform detailed high quality presentations to technical and executive audiences
- Assist with training of product to customer
- Maintain thorough BreakingPoint product knowledge through new releases and product upgrades

The selected candidate must have a minimum 5 years of professional industry experience selling into the federal government especially DoD and intelligence agencies. Demonstrate understanding and proficiency in Layer 4-7 applications and content aware technologies such as IPS/IDS, firewalls, deep packet inspection and load balancers. Be able to configure and understand the test environment-IP addressing, client/server, traffic types, and performance benchmarks. The candidate must possess direct experience and knowledge of agencies’ process of product evaluation and certification using traffic and threat generation tools. Possess a professional appearance and the ability to provide a positive company image.
Additional Requirements:
- Must have active secret or top secret level clearance
- Strong written and verbal communications skills are required for this role and the candidate should provide examples of their work on request

Responsibilities Summary:
Manage technical development of customer accounts for a particular region or group of accounts. Help attain sales goals by working directly with Sales Directors and leveraging other available resources.
Responsibilities Detail:
- Provide pre-sales technical assistance and product education
- Investigate and understand customer “pain points” and focus message to explain how we can address these specific issues
- Travel to visit potential and existing clients in order to establish new, and maintain existing, long-term relationships with customers
- Gather detailed information on customer requirements, providing feedback to engineering for future product enhancements where necessary
- Make technical presentations and demonstrate how we will address customer requirements
- Prepare and submit detailed field reports for further analysis of customer needs and potential size of opportunity
- Work with Sales Directors and leverage all other available resources to meet or exceed quarterly and annual targets
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support marketing team by attending and/or presenting at trade shows, seminars, conferences, and other marketing events

Employment Standards
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Responsible for sales coverage of the Federal Intelligence community, DOD Joint Commands, the emerging Cyber Command and other DOD agencies for BreakingPoint Systems. Applicant should have extensive experience and success with federal system sales for network security, application (L4-7) and performance testing scenarios. This position will require an active Top Secret clearance and a history of success in selling to DoD, Intel, and Civilian as well as with top federal integrators. This position will provide key input into marketing strategies and long-range business plans for the BreakingPoint’s Government Solutions Group.
In addition to above skill sets, this position will identify and participate in marketing events, such as trade shows and seminars that support growth and campaigns in support of specific objectives. Individual will also work in conjunction with the business unit, group and corporate marketing communications staff to develop advertising and marketing collateral that supports specific products and marketing objectives. Frequent travel up to 75% may be required customer visits to support other business development, strategic planning, and to support direct work requirements.
