Security Research Engineer

BreakingPoint Systems is looking for a Security Research Engineer to investigate new vulnerabilities in networking enabled products and then develop live exploits for those vulnerabilities to be used in our product line. In this role, you will be responsible for developing tools, performing targeted research, developing exploits and test cases, and writing white papers about the subject matter you are researching. This individual will be expected to work closely with the other members of the Application and Threat Intelligence (ATI) team and report to the Senior Manager of the Application Intelligence Program.

Requirements:

  • Broad knowledge of network protocols
  • Good programming skills in multiple languages (C, Python, Ruby, etc)
  • Creative, problem-solving approach to projects
  • Experience administering a variety of network and server equipment
  • Comfort in a fast-paced, start-up environment
  • At least one publicly available vulnerability discovery, exploit development, and/or open source tool
  • Must have a willingness to do whatever is required to meet aggressive deadlines
  • Strong domain knowledge in vulnerability research and exploit development

Jr. Security Research Engineer

In the role of Security Research Engineer, you will develop live exploits for vulnerabilities. A Security Research Engineer will be expected to work closely with the other members of the team and report to the Manager of Security Research. This is not a Senior position, but rather a position we are expecting to train and develop the individual to grow in our organization.

Requirements:

  • College degree or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of common network protocols
  • Creative, problem-solving approach to projects
  • Experience administering network and server equipment
  • Must have a willingness to do whatever is required to meet aggressive deadlines
  • Programming experience

Application Protocol Engineer

In the role of Software Engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing existing application protocols, reversing the protocol and implementing the protocol into the BreakingPoint CTM products.

This position is highly visible within the company, where you will have a direct impact on sales. This person will read RFC’s or other specifications on well known protocols and incorporate them into the BreakingPoint CTM products utilizing Ruby and XML. For protocols that are either proprietary or undocumented, this person will setup an infrastructure to capture the traffic in order to understand the protocol, reverse engineer it, and incorporate it into the product. This position will also have exposure to network security experts and have the opportunity to learn and contribute to the team on this front as well. Additionally, this person will have the opportunity to contribute to our extremely well-read blog about any technical topic of interest, including day-to-day work or outside interests.

Requirements:

  • Strong programming in multiple languages (C, Java, Ruby, etc)
  • Deep understanding of the TCP/IP stack and OSI model
  • Cursory knowledge of application layer protocols

Executive Assistant to the Chief Technology Officer

BreakingPoint Systems, a manufacturer of ultra-high-speed Cyber Tomography Machines, is looking for an Executive Assistant to the Chief Technology Officer of the company. In this role, you will be working in a high-energy, fast paced environment; Candidates with excellent multi-tasking abilities are invited to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the CTO’s calendar, scheduling and organizing of meetings and activities as needed.
  • Arrange detailed travel itineraries, including international arrangements, compiling documents for travel and travel-related meetings for the CTO.
  • Create presentations and PowerPoint slides, as well as Excel spreadsheets.
  • Proofread written materials and correspondence for grammatical accuracy.
  • Act as a project manager for special projects needed by the CTO. You may be asked to plan and coordinate presentations, events, or customer appreciation initiatives.
  • Create general correspondences, memos, charts, tables, graphs, business plans, etc.
  • Take and transcribe dictation, including meeting minutes, to compose and prepare confidential correspondence, reports and other documents.
  • Prepare the CTO’s weekly expense reports.
  • Remain on top of deadlines for both the CTO and his teams, providing reminders informational updates when necessary.
  • Organize and present concise summaries of background information (customer bios, meeting location details, planned topics for discussion) in preparation for the CTO’s meetings.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all corporate, personnel and research matters.

Required Skills:

Federal Sales Systems Engineer

Overview:

Based in the western US, the Pre-Sales Systems Engineer (SE) is responsible for supporting their assigned Federal Sales Director with all technical elements of the sales process while selling BreakingPoint process to all federal agencies and related Integrators within the region. The Systems Engineer’s primary charter is to obtain solution closure within the sales cycle from the technical buyer, and to maintain account satisfaction with BreakingPoint products.

Responsibilities:

  • Travel to visit potential and existing clients in order to establish new, and maintain existing, long-term relationships with customers
  • Configuring BreakingPoint products for evaluation and proof of concepts, as well as managing the on-site customer demonstration to obtain solution closure
  • Establish trusted advisory partnerships with key customers to define technology direction and adaptation of emerging technologies; perform effective technical opportunity analysis of accounts to know who the key solution decision makers are and maintain effective relationships with those key individuals
  • Perform detailed high quality presentations to technical and executive audiences
  • Assist with training of product to customer
  • Maintain thorough BreakingPoint product knowledge through new releases and product upgrades
  • Effectively balance independent projects while working collaboratively in a team environment and leading growth initiatives

Requirements:

The selected candidate must have a minimum 5 years of professional industry experience as a sales engineer into the federal government, namely DoD, National labs and integrators . Demonstrate understanding and proficiency in Layer 4-7 applications and content aware technologies such as IPS/IDS, firewalls, deep packet inspection and load balancers. Be able to configure and understand the test environment-IP addressing, client/server, traffic types, and performance benchmarks. The candidate must possess direct experience and knowledge of agencies’ process of product evaluation and certification using traffic and threat generation tools. Possess a professional appearance and the ability to provide a positive company image.

Qualifications also include:

  • TS minimum and TS/SCI clearances preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills are required for this role and the candidate should provide examples of their work on request
  • Advanced specialization skill in network security products, threat environments and performance traffic generation
  • Ability to travel extensively to domestic federal agency locations in the Western US

International Technical Support Representative

Overview: BreakingPoint, a manufacturer of ultra high-speed network & security Cyber Tomography Machines, is looking for an International Technical Support Representative. In this role, you will be part of a team that provides outstanding technical support while fielding a range of customer questions or issues, over telephone or email, in the areas of system configuration, setup and functionality for BreakingPoint’s complete line of products.

Reports To: Manager of Customer Service

Responsibilities:

  • Provide front-line customer contact and ticket triage for incoming support calls and emails
  • Provide diligent customer follow-up on current case status and closed loop ticket resolution
  • Assist customers with system installation, configuration and test functionality
  • Recreate customer network topologies and test scenarios for in-house problem replication
  • Manage and updates support tickets according to current status
  • Keeps informed of and maintains proficiency with company products
  • Provides detailed information for escalated bugs to engineering

Qualifications:

  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively in verbal or written format
  • 5+ years working knowledge of network hardware configurations for Routers, Switches, Firewalls and Proxies
  • Strong IP Networking skills
  • Experience working with server applications and associated protocols

IT Systems Administrator

BreakingPoint, a manufacture of ultra high-speed network & security test products, is looking for an IT Systems Administrator to manage all of our existing IT systems and to provide technical support to the members of the BreakingPoint family.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing a mixture of both MS Windows and Linux servers.
  • Supporting all company IT related requests in a mixed Windows/Linux/Mac environment.
  • Maintaining the company phone system.
  • Providing 24/7 on call support for mission critical services.
  • Maintaining company backups.
  • Managing the company IT procurement process.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • 6 or more years experience administering and supporting Windows desktops and Windows servers.
  • Extensive experience with MS Exchange and Active Directory.
  • 4 or more years experience administering Unix/Linux servers.
  • Experience with various network services, including DNS, DHCP, SMTP, HTTP, VPN and SMB.
  • Experience with networking and Cisco network hardware.
