Software Engineer [Embedded Linux]
BreakingPoint, a manufacture of ultra high-speed network & security test products, is looking for a Software Engineer to be responsible for the Linux environment. In this role, you will be responsible for cross-compiling, packaging, and porting open-source software onto new hardware. Job responsibilities would also include other C development for BreakingPoint’s multi-gigabit network testers.
The ideal candidate will have the following background and skills:
- Experience with device driver development
- Broad knowledge of Linux and GNU/Linux tools (gcc, make, autoconf, etc.)
- Strong programming skills in multiple languages (C, Python, Ruby, TCL, etc)
- Experience with embedded development
- Experience with hardware bring-up
- Knowledge of TCP/IP and other network protocols
- Creative, problem-solving approach to projects
- Comfort in a fast-paced startup environment
- At least 3 years of previous embedded program experience
- Must have a willingness to do whatever is required to meet aggressive deadlines

Network Test Engineer
BreakingPoint Systems is currently seeking a Network Test Engineer for its product test and QA organization. The test engineer will work within the QA group and participate in test planning and development, traffic and protocol analysis, and performance verification. The successful candidate must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
The test engineering position has the following major responsibilities:
- Design, document, and automate test cases as per development specifications
- Monitor Ethernet/IP traffic for conformance to test specifications
- Measure and verify network traffic rate, bandwidth, and reliability
- Work with developers to perform root-cause analysis of test failures
- Document test results and verify related bug fixes
The ideal candidate will have the following background and skills:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering/computer-related discipline
- Working knowledge of various IP/networking protocols
- Experience with scripting and/or programming languages such as C, Perl, Tcl, etc.
- Experience building and configuring test topologies using switches, routers, firewalls, etc.
- Hands-on experience with network test equipment such as SmartBits/IXIA, traffic monitors/sniffers, etc.
- Experience isolating and troubleshooting network failures
- Experience with Linux services and networking administration

Application Protocol Engineer
BreakingPoint Systems is currently seeking an Application Protocol Engineer to develop application protocols. The qualified candidate will be responsible for analyzing, documenting, and testing existing network protocols, as well as working with the security team to discover flaws in protocol implementations.
The ideal candidate will have the following background and skills:
- Expert knowledge of TCP/IP and other networking/application protocols
- Strong knowledge of network analysis tools (wireshark, hping, netcat)
- Strong knowledge of the types of flaws affecting protocol implementations
- Strong programming skills in at least one language
- Creative, problem-solving approach to projects
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
