Testing Juniper Networks SRX: 109 Gbps of Real Application Traffic

A few weeks back I shared some video and pictures of a day BreakingPoint spent with Juniper Networks, one of our customers. During that day we tested the Juniper SRX5800 Services Gateway and today we published some of the results from the test and a video from the day of testing at Juniper (below).

The Highlights

  • Juniper Networks SRX5800 Services Gateway becomes first network device tested with over 100 Gbps of blended Layer 4-7 application traffic. Actually, to be exact, 109 Gbps of realistic application traffic.
  • The SRX also achieved 150 Gbps of stateless traffic and 30 Gbps of intrustion prevention with recommended policies.
  • BreakingPoint conducted the test of the Juniper Networks SRX with a single configuration of four BreakingPoint Elite chassis, all managed from a single user interface and producing integrated reports.

This quote from Juniper Networks' Director Product Management, Brian Lazear was featured in the news release:

“Juniper Networks enables innovative solutions that allow the most demanding applications services. BreakingPoint Elite’s all-in-one Layer 2-7 performance and security testing of the Juniper Networks SRX allowed us to configure the 150 Gbps application layer test within minutes without having to configure each individual port. Additionally, BreakingPoint Elite’s ability to test with actual blended application traffic helped reinforce our claims of having the fastest product on the planet."

During the testing we also did some filming of what took place which is a nice review of the the test and results:
